OZZZZZZZZZYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Well, it's an old piece, but I finally got copies of an Ozzy Osbourne t-shirt I worked on back in 2005....of all the work I've done for Signatures, I would say this is the one I am the most proud of...as for how to get them, I've looked around but so far had no luck...it has the 2005 tour dates on the back so maybe that might help......perfect for rocking out to Bark at the Moon on Guiter Hero. Dead bat not included....

Busy week....

Well I managed to get quite a bit done this week...I think taking December easy helped me recharge a little, plus a new sketchbook and mechanical pencil has got me inspired - it's the little things I guess......anyway, first I had to get this illustration squared away for an upcoming Incubus poster...I started off first drawing the entire illustration and then simply used the lettering to censor it...it went through a bunch of different color incarnations, but in the end I settled on purple to kind of get across the creepiness of the image (sidenote: that dark purple registered as PMS 666)...as for the image minus lettering, I'm debating whether to make an art print out of it.....Next I gave some lovin' to my sketchbook and worked on a piece for an upcoming show....and last but not least I worked on a collaborative piece with fellow GP'er Aye Jay's 5 year old son Cohen. Basically Cohen does a quick background painting and then passes it off to different artists to add on to...of all the things I've worked on lately, I would have to say this was the thing I enjoyed the most....just drawing for the fun of it....
Here's a link to some of his previous collaborations....look forward to getting his take on my drawing.....

Tomorrow, hopefully I can post pictures of my Googar Munny if I manage to get it clear coated...depends on the weather, which I have a feeling is going to be SHITTAY.

Back to my roots....

Over the past couple days, I've taken a tiny break from painting and other stuff and broken in my new sketchbook....I'm super anal about the brand of book I use, usually only Canson's because the paper is usually too smooth in other brands for me, but after not being able to hunt down a Canson, reluctantly settled on a new brand...good news, is the texture and tooth of the paper is almost identical...I would have to say that pencil is the technique that I am most comfortable and I find myself being able to relax more then any other medium......sooooo, I was thinking that maybe I need to really focus on my pencil work more. I've always wanted to have a gallery show of nothing but small pencil drawings in really ornate frames. I guess I just like the idea of people being forced to get close to a piece and really have to check them out....I have the He-man art show coming up in February and I think instead of a painting I'll do my piece in pencil.....Anyway, here's a couple of the pieces I did.....

Mind = BLOWN

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. My New Year's Eve started off with a trip to the Dayton Art Institute which I haven't been to in probably 15 years or so. When I was younger I used to go there on saturdays for various classes and it was kind of cool to come back there and see a lot of old paintings that I used to sit and draw on the way to the main attraction - an exhibit on Rembrandt and other Dutch Masters from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
All I have to say is HOLY SHIT. I never really was a fan of the paintings of the old masters, mostly because I was always obsessed with comic books and graphic illustration, but since I've been trying to paint more, I definately have a new found respect for what those guys were able to accomplish, under much harder conditions and with all homemade materials. I've also avoided oils like the plague, mostly for health concerns, but seeing the works there, makes me really want to try my hand at oils again (I haven't opened up my oil paints case since 1994) because I know I can never get that look with acrylics......anyway, it was a very humbling and inspiring exhibit. If you are in the Dayton area, it's going to be up for another week so check it out.
